Adelaide’s newborn session at my Lunenburg studio was a little different from my typical newborn sessions since she was already two months old. This champion baby spent the first couple months of her life in the hospital. Her parents upended their life in Montana to temporarily relocate to Massachusetts for a special surgeon in Boston when they found out their baby had a condition called CDH– congenital diaphragmatic hernia. This is when the diaphragm does not form completely, causing the abdominal organs to shift around into the chest and crowd the heart and lungs.
Adelaide had major surgery before she was even 24 hours old, had to be on ECMO support, and spent months hooked up to tubes and machines. It was almost a month before her mama could even hold her. Her loving parents were at the hospital every day cheering her on. And now this sweet little baby is a happy one year old living back in Montana!
Since she was full term and a couple months old when she made it in for her newborn session, she was much more wakeful and alert than my typical babies. We were a little more relaxed with the posing and captured some really beautiful images of this tiny warrior!
